This course introduces a range of topics related to cell structure and function, the processes of the cell cycle, the functions of metabolism on cell activity, protein synthesis, and the effects of genetic variation on living organisms. Mitosis, meiosis, DNA replication, enzyme structure and function, membrane transport, cellular respiration, gene expression, mutations, genetic inheritance, chromosomal anomalies are among the topics covered.

Students will gain experience with teamwork and get involved with the experimental method by planning and carrying out investigations, using laboratory techniques and data processing software, engaging in argument from evidence, and will present their findings by means of lab reports following scientific communication standards.
