GENERAL BIOLOGY I
101-NYA-05 Prerequisite: General Chemistry 202-NYA
This course introduces students to the principles of biology with emphasis on the organization and
diversity of living things and their ecological relationships in the biosphere. Topics include: cell
structure and function, cell division, genetics, evolution, ecology, and a survey of diverse forms of
life. Laboratory exercises include: the study of the cell as the basic unit of life, mechanisms of
heredity, the study of the life cycles of selected species, as well as the dissection of representative
organisms.
