Mechanics is that branch of physics that studies motion and its relation to forces. In it, we learn how to describe motion (kinematics) and how forces affect motion (dynamics). It does not tell us much about the nature of forces, save maybe for gravity. We will cover Newtonian mechanics. Physicist call it also classical mechanics. While we will be talking about cars, bicycles, boxes, flies, and other large objects, mechanics is not restricted to them only. Your computer is currently using laws of mechanics (not necessarily Newtonian mechanics) to apply forces on electrons, controlling their motion, and making them display the text you are currently reading.
