This second veterinary nursing course is designed to further train the future technician to help and assist the veterinarian in their daily small animal clinical work. Students will perfect the techniques previously learnt in the Clinical Nursing for the AHT course as well as continue to practice basic client management skills and use current veterinary software. Using standard and hands-free techniques, students will safely and efficiently obtain various diagnostic radiographs (including dental). Students will learn to appropriately care for the anesthetised patient, ensure their physical well-being through constant monitoring as well as report any abnormality concerning the patient’s health to the attending veterinarian. At the end of the semester students will be required to participate in an in-house clinic, evaluate and reflect on anaesthetic case studies and obtain radiographs to demonstrate the integration of the theoretical and practical learning.
